RABBIS AROUND THE WORLD
"One of the greatest challenges of serving as a rabbi in a Diaspora community is the incredible sense of isolation," reflects Rabbi Shaul Fridberg, the assistant chief rabbi in Munich. The young rabbi recently welcomed a visit from Rabbi Eliahu Birnbaum, director of Amiel: The Rabbi Emanual Rackman Practical Rabbinics Program of the Joseph Straus Seminary, who makes several trips each year to visit and encourage the program's 40 graduates currently serving communities around the world. "Rabbi Birnbaum's emails, phone calls and visits are a constant source of support," Fridberg says.
