Excellent grades for Shavei Rachel

Fall 2001 Newsletter

Three years after the Shavei Rachel High School joined the Ohr Torah Stone educational network as an institution specializing in arts and communication, the results are in: based on the outstanding achievement of its 11th and 12th grade art, drama and film students in the national matriculation (bagrut) exams, Shavei Rachel now ranks as one of Israel's leading arts schools for religious girls.

Under the auspices of OTS's Ann Belsky Moranis School of Arts, Shavei Rachel's program integrates encounters between Judaism and the world of expression and creativity while offering students a good deal of personal attention and encouragement.

The matriculation exam in drama required each student to produce and perform a monologue. Presented at the Gush Etzion community center, before a live audience that included the testers, the scenarios reflected the emotions of the past year in Israel: grief, despair, dashed hopes, fear and crises of ideology and identity.
