The Brovenders have requested that people give 36 shekels to tzedaka in thanks for the nes galui that the Rabbi is alive, and for his continued refuah sh'lemah. His name is Chaim ben Sarah Rachel.

It seems to me that this is in order to teach us not to be distracted by what we see....
